Art, Greatness and Beauty: there are few words that can describe Florence, and this is why every year is on our list of must-see cities.

We have always been obsessed by Its charm, Its architecture and Its streets to walk along with the head at the sky.

It’s hard to say which are more attractive things to look at during a few days visit. Surely you can’t leave Florence without visiting the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio.

Arte, grandezza e bellezza: poche sono le parole che possono descrivere Firenze, ed è per questo che ogni anno è nella nostra lista delle città da vedere.

Siamo sempre stati ossessionati dal suo fascino, dalle sue architetture lungo le strade da percorrere a naso in su.

E’ difficile indicare quali sono le cose più belle da vedere per una visita di pochi giorni. Di certo non si può lasciare Firenze senza aver visitato Il Duomo, Piazza della Signoria e Ponte Vecchio.

But for those who want to experience the real Florence, the Oltrarno is the place to discover, one of the most scenic part of the city. Here you’d be overwhelmed by the true Florentine spirit.

Walking through narrow streets you find artisans working with bare hands…an amazing experience.

You’ll cross little squares where people meet every day talking of everything, smoking a cigarette or just sitting watching the passersby.

Through a narrow uphill path on the Arno’s shore overlooking Uffizi, we reached Villa Bardini. From here the view of Florence is amazing and has nothing to envy to Piazzale Michelangelo.

Walking around this neighborhood we tasted the scents of bar, coffee shops, cupcakes shops and authentic Italian trattoria. They are very different from those of the city center, less touristy.

A sure must visit is Hemingway chocolate shop, the most famous of the city. If you want to taste the famous Fiorentina beef, following the advice of the Oltrano’s inhabitants, surely one of the best places is the Trattoria Napoleone. Try it!

This finding block is one of our favorite in Florence, and we will definitely come back to taste once again this part of the city.

Per chi però vuole vivere la vera Firenze, però, non si può fare a meno di entrare nel quartiere Oltrarno, una delle zone più suggestive della città. Qui si viene travolti dal vero spirito fiorentino.

Passeggiare tra le strette strade dove si trovano le botteghe di artigiani che lavorano a mani nude è un’esperienza meravigliosa.

Si incrociano piccole piazze dove le persone si trovano a parlare del più e del meno ogni giorno, fumando una sigaretta o solamente stando seduti ad osservare i passanti.

Attraverso una stretta stradina in salita dalla sponda dell’Arno affacciata sugli Uffizi, abbiamo raggiunto Villa Bardini. Da qui la vista di Firenze è spettacolare e non ha nulla da invidiare a quella del famoso Piazzale Michelangelo.

Girando per questo quartiere non abbiamo potuto fare a meno di lasciarci guidare dai profumi dei numerosi locali: coffee shops, negozi di cupcakes e trattorie autentiche disseminate ovunque. Sono molto diverse da quelle del centro, meno turistiche.

Tappa d’obbligo è la cioccolateria Hemingway, la più famosa della città, mentre per assaggiare la famosissima bistecca Fiorentina, seguendo il consiglio degli abitanti di Oltrarno, sicuramente uno dei migliori posti è la Trattoria Napoleone. Da provare, voto 10!

Questo quartiere da scovare ed esplorare è diventato il nostro preferito di Firenze e torneremo sicuramente per assaggiare di nuovo questa fetta di città.
