La parte occidentale dell’isola di Bali è un luogo magico.

Non avevamo mai avuto modo di andarci, ma la sognavamo da tempo.

In realtà non sapevamo cosa aspettarci perchè Bali è un’isola grande e offre una varietà ampia di paesaggi e di realtà, che cambiano in sole 3 ore di guida.

In questa parte dell’isola si estende per moltissimi chilometri il West Bali National Park, una vastissima area protetta dominata da cervi e cerbiatti.

All’interno del parco si trova il Plataran Menjangan Resort. Plataran per noi è simbolo di garanzia. Avevamo già collaborato con loro a Borobudur diversi mesi fa (QUI trovate il nostro articolo).

Descrivere la loro proprietà a Menjangan come un semplice resort crediamo sia riduttivo. E’ stato più che un soggiorno. E’ stata una vera esperienza.

The western part of Bali island is a magical place.

We never had the chance to go there but we wished it for a long time.

We did not really know what to expect because Bali is a huge island and it offers a wide variety of places and realities that change in just 3 hours driving.

In this part of the island there’s the West Bali National Park, wich is a vast protected area of many kilometers dominated by deers.

Plataran Menjangan Resort has its base inside the park. Plataran for us is a guarantee symbol. We had already worked with them at Borobudur (Java island) several months ago (HERE you find our article).

We think that is reductive to talk about their property in Menjangan as a simple resort. It’s been more than a simple stay. It’s been a real experience.

Il concept sul quale si basa il Plataran Menjangan è la perfetta armonia con la natura e il profondo rispetto per essa. Potremmo definirlo un “lusso esotico”.

I sensi vengono attivati dal momento in cui si entra nel resort.

La vista sull’oceano e sui vulcani dell’isola di Java, proprio a pochi chilometri di distanza, ci ha accompagnato dall’inizio alla fine.

I profumi della foresta, suggestiva anche durante la stagione secca.

I suoni delle decine di specie di uccelli tropicali, dei passi dei cervi tra le mangrovie e delle scimmie che ondeggiano tra gli alberi.

I sapori tradizionali dell’Octagon Restaurant, dove si respira pace durante una cena con vista sull’oceano.

Mixate tutto e lo spettacolo è assicurato.

The concept on which the Plataran Menjangan is based is the perfect harmony with nature and deep respect for it. We could call it an “exotic luxury.”

The senses are switch on from the moment you enter the resort.

The view of the ocean and the volcanoes of Java island, just a few miles away, it’s been our background from the beginning to the end.

The scents of the forest, which is so suggestive even during the dry season.

The sounds of all the species of tropical birds, of the deers walking between the mangroves or the monkeys swinging among the trees.

The indonesian traditional flavors of the Octagon Restaurant, where you can breathe peace during a dinner overlooking the ocean.

Mix everything and the result is amazing.

Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di soggiornare dentro la nuova Ocean Mangrove Villa, una riuscitissima combinazione tra design e tradizione indonesiana.

Standing ovation per il bagno affacciato sulla foresta. 

La villa è annidata tra le mangrovie, a due metri dalla spiaggia (ma due veramente!). L’oceano era il primo a darci il buongiorno, e la sera del full moon, con una luna enorme e luminosa che si rifletteva sull’acqua, la spiaggia di fronte a noi si è riempita di cerbiatti che si riposavano indisturbati tra le mangrovie. L’unica cosa che ci siamo sentiti di fare in quel momento è stata posare la nostra fotocamera e goderci quell’attimo di magia in silenzio.
Alcuni ricordi sono ancora più belli se raccontati.

We’ve been lucky to spend our stay in the brand new Ocean Mangrove Villa, a very successful combination of modern and traditional Indonesian design.

Standing ovation for the bathroom overlooking the forest.

The villa is nestled among the mangroves, two meters from the beach (no more than two!). The ocean was the first to give us the “good morning”, and during the full moon evening with a huge and bright moon reflected on the water, the beach in front of our villa was full of deers taking rest among the mangroves. The only thing we felt to do in that moment was to drop our camera and enjoy that magical atmosphere in silence. Some memories are even more beautiful when told.

Siamo stati fortunati perchè durante quei giorni si svolgeva il Fisherman Boat Carnival in occasione del full moon, e con moltissima eccitazione abbiamo partecipato alla cerimonia induista nella cristallina isola di Menjangan, raggiunta tramite colorate barche tradizionali in legno.

I balinesi vestiti a festa ci hanno permesso di assistere al rituale in disparte e in silenzio all’interno del tempio. Un’altra esperienza da aggiungere al nostro bagaglio di quest’anno.

We were lucky because during those days of full moon the Fisherman Boat Carnival took place there, and with great excitement we took part in the Hindu ceremony on the crystalline island of Menjangan, reached through colorful traditional wooden boats.

The local people with traditional dresses allowed us to attend the ritual inside the temple but apart and in silence. Another experience to add to our list this year.

Non basta? Il Plataran Menjangan mette a disposizione un veliero privato per godersi l’afternoon tea durante il tramonto al largo della costa, mentre il sole scende dietro vulcani di Java. Golden hour in gran stile!

La nostra guida ci ha condotto alla colazione portandoci attraverso il parco, e mostrandoci i suoi segreti anche durante la stagione secca.

Prendete in considerazione questa parte inesplorata e ancora poco conosciuta di Bali ragazzi. Fidatevi ne vale veramente la pena, e il Plataran Menjangan è il luogo perfetto per godersi questi luoghi che è impossibile trovare in altre parti dell’isola.

Is it really not enough? Well, we want to tell you of the chance to have an exclusive breakfast in the forest, in early morning peace with breathtaking views of Java.

Our local guide led us to breakfast by taking us through the park, and showing us its secrets even during the dry season.

You guys should consider this unexplored and yet little-known part of Bali. It’s definitely worth it, and Plataran Menjangan is the perfect Resort to enjoy these places that are impossible to find in other parts of the island.
